Vista Grande

Vista Grande is the neighborhood west of Hawthorne Boulevard and north of Hesse Park, where most homes went up between 1962 and 1964. It grew out of the early-1960s Grandview developments; one section, Palos Verdes Village, was built by B. R. Morris Development Co. after the Grandview Building Company's principals went separate ways in early 1963.

The neighborhood

Living in Vista Grande

In December 1962 the school board chose the name Vista Grande, 'the great view,' for an elementary school planned on Golden Meadow Drive and Purpleridge Drive, and the city's Neighborhood Watch group uses the name today. Newspaper columns of the 1960s called parts of the area Grandview Estates and Palos Verdes Village, and Palos Verdes Village residents held the organizing meeting of their homeowners association in 1964.

Clovercliff Park, a 0.17-acre pocket park on Golden Meadow Drive, has a distant ocean view. Real estate agents list the area in MLS area 173, which they call Los Verdes.
