Seaview
Seaview is the mid-century neighborhood along and above Palos Verdes Drive South, between Portuguese Bend and Ladera Linda. Linde Construction Company began it in the mid-1950s as Portuguese Bend Estates, finished its first homes in 1956 and renamed it Marina Highlands in 1957. In early 1959 Linde brought in architect Paul R. Williams, and the rest was sold as SeaView Palos Verdes.

Living in Seaview
Williams drew nine floor plans and 41 front elevations for the remaining 190 homes, built in 1959 and 1960 on terraced lots. Roofs range from flat and low-gabled to single-sloped, with a few butterfly roofs. A 1960 Los Angeles Times item reported that World War II veterans made up 95 percent of early buyers. A 2009 request for city historic designation was turned down.
The western part of Seaview lies in the Greater Portuguese Bend Landslide Complex. In late summer 2024 a gas line break on Exultant Drive cut gas to 29 homes in western Seaview, and Southern California Edison cut power to 105 of the neighborhood's 270 homes. In 2025 the city added seven Seaview properties to its landslide area, where new residential construction is now prohibited. The voluntary SeaView Residents Association publishes a history of the neighborhood.
Seaview Villas, on Seaview Drive in Rolling Hills Estates, is a different place.
