Living in Ridgecrest Ranchos
Residents organized the Ridgecrest Ranchos Recreation and Park District in October 1961. By April 1962 it had planted street trees on Middlecrest Road and the cross streets, and lighting and landscaping for the entry island were next. In late 1962 the area lay inside the boundaries of a proposed annexation to Rolling Hills Estates. It is now part of Rancho Palos Verdes, and the park district has since received city neighborhood beautification grants.
In 2006 the city studied its own land at Crestridge Road and Crenshaw Boulevard, at the neighborhood's edge, for senior condominiums, a senior center and open space.
