Who it's for

Rancho del Mar is the district's continuation high school: an alternative setting where students in grades 10–12 earn credits toward graduation. Board policy sets eligibility at age 16 or 17 at enrollment (the school describes its students as 16 to 18), and students may enroll voluntarily, with the district's consent and as space permits, on a parent's written request or a counselor's or school administrator's referral; a student can also be transferred involuntarily under Education Code 48432.5 (BP 6184 · AR 6184). It's WASC-accredited, and the California Department of Education recognizes it as a Model Continuation High School. It had 37 students in 2025–26 (CDE).

The Palos Verdes Distance Learning Academy, an independent-study program for grades 6–12 that shares Rancho del Mar's principal, and PV Transit's office share the 38 Crest Road West address. For enrollment, see the school's registration page and graduation requirements.

The district lists the campus as built in 1960 and renovated in 2008, on a 15.2-acre site with about 20,000 square feet of buildings. Its Measure SOS project list covers HVAC, repairs and safety and security, about $1.27 million (district bond page).

How we placed things

Rancho del Mar has no school outline in OpenStreetMap, so we drew an approximate campus boundary from the county parcel and the district's site plan. The three buildings, the basketball court and the drives are OpenStreetMap outlines (ODbL), matched to the school's campus map and the district's site plan: the northwest building holds the MPR and Room 11, the L-shaped building holds Rooms 3–10, and the stand-alone building nearest Crest Road is the Main Office. The same parcel holds a separate group of buildings to the west whose use we couldn't confirm, so they aren't on our map.
