Pins mark the right wing, not the exact door; the portables and the office entrance are approximate and carry a dashed pin and an “approx.” tag. Campus details can change, so confirm with the school office.

Drop-off & parking

In on Via Olivera, out on Via Romero

Show the route on the map

Morning drop-off

  1. Come southbound on Via Olivera and turn right into the front lot at the drop-off entrance. The school's traffic map posts no left turn there.
  2. Follow the one-way aisle southwest along the front of the school. The school marks this loop for A.M. carpool drop-off only.
  3. Exit onto Via Romero. No-left-turn signs are posted at the exits, so turn right.

An all-way stop controls the corner of Via Olivera and Via Romero, near the loop.

Parking, visitors & pick-up

The main parking lot is on the east side of campus, entered from Via Olivera just north of the drop-off entrance. The main office is in the south corner of the east building, at the drop-off end of the front lot; the MPR, stage and cafeteria fill the rest of that building.

The school's traffic map marks the front loop for morning drop-off only and doesn't show an afternoon pick-up zone. Check the school's traffic flow page or call the office for current pick-up rules.

Campus traffic rules can change from year to year. Confirm with the school office at (310) 544-4816, or see the school's Traffic Flow Map.

Bell schedule

PVIS posts its bell schedule as an image on the school site rather than as text, so we link it instead of retyping times that may have changed.

Minimum days and holidays are on the district's 2026–27 calendar (PDF), updated Oct 1, 2026. Key dates are also on our schools page.

Wings, portables and fields

Classroom wings

Rooms are numbered by wing: the 600s (601–614) on the south side, the 700s (701–714) to the west, the 800s (801–812) to the north and the 900s (902–911) in the middle, with the library and Health Office. Music room 109 is in the office building. The portables (P0, PE1, PE2 and P7–P12) line the northwest side.

Fields & courts

The upper field, with a baseball diamond, fills the northeast corner, and the lower field is on the west side. Across the north side are a blacktop with six basketball courts and a set of nine small hard courts.

No gym (yet)

PVIS has no gymnasium. The district's facilities master plan proposes a new two-story athletic building with a gym, but it hasn't been built. The Measure SOS phase-one project list, approved by the board May 14, 2025, covers HVAC, urgent building repairs and safety and security at PVIS, about $8.45 million in all (district bond page, which misprints the approval year as 2026; May 14, 2025 board highlights). In September 2026 the board authorized bids for an artificial-turf field at PVIS while staff compare turf with grass; bidding doesn't commit the district (board highlights).

Built in 1964 and renovated in 2002, PVIS sits on a 27-acre site overlooking the Pacific. It was named a California Distinguished School in 2024 and again in 2026.

Student buses on the Hill are run by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Transit Authority, not the district. The fare is $2.50 cash or TAP, and 2026–27 passes are $305 a semester or $608 a year. Official map & sources

The school's own maps, and how ours was made

PVIS publishes a campus map, a traffic flow map and a student lunch map that shows where students may eat. Ours is north-up and drawn over real building outlines, so it lines up with street signs and your phone's map.

We don't copy the school's maps. Here are the originals:

How we placed things

Building outlines come from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). We matched the school's campus map and traffic map to those outlines and checked them against the district's site plan. The drop-off route follows the one-way drive as mapped. OpenStreetMap tags the nine small courts as tennis, but at about 90 to 160 square meters each they're far smaller than a tennis court, so we call them hard courts.
