How Peninsula Center fits together
Northwest to southeast, along Silver Spur Road
“Peninsula Center” is what most people call the whole town-center district, not just one property. It runs about two-thirds of a mile:
- Peninsula Shopping Center fills the block framed by Hawthorne Blvd, Silver Spur Rd, Norris Center Dr and Indian Peak Rd.
- Banks, a gas station and a few shops sit on pads across Hawthorne and on Indian Peak Rd.
- The Promenade | PV is across Norris Center Dr to the southeast, at 550 Deep Valley Dr.
- Past it, the Deep Valley Dr and Silver Spur Rd blocks hold smaller shops, the post office and, nearby, the main Peninsula Center Library.
- Silver Spur Town & Country (Bristol Farms, CVS) closes out the southeast end, toward Crenshaw Blvd.
Good to know
City lines. It's all Rolling Hills Estates, except the office buildings at 430–580 Silver Spur Rd, which are in Rancho Palos Verdes. Those are offices rather than shops, so they aren't listed here.
What's changing. Housing is the district's big planning story: 90 homes at Peninsula Shopping Center on Norris Center Drive, entitled in December 2024, and a 454-unit mixed-use project at 615–855 Deep Valley Drive that is going through a supplemental environmental review. Read the briefing.
Library. The Peninsula Center Library, flagship of the Palos Verdes Library District, sits among the Silver Spur Rd blocks.
Peninsula Shopping Center
Peninsula Shopping Center opened in May 1961 and filled out through 1965. Buffums, the Peninsula's first department store, was here until 1991. Vestar has owned the center since 2013.
Today's anchors are Target, Pavilions, TJ Maxx, Petco, Old Navy, Ulta Beauty and Five Below, with Fitness 19 beside the Old Navy and Ulta building. The former Rite Aid, closed in 2025, shows as a 17,000 sq ft vacancy on the owner's site plan.
Ninety homes on the Norris Center Drive side of the property were entitled in December 2024 (the Peninsula Center pipeline).

Hawthorne Blvd & Indian Peak Rd pads
Not a named center: the freestanding banks, gas station and shops on their own pads around Peninsula Shopping Center. Most are on the north side of Hawthorne Boulevard, between the boulevard and the Peninsula High campus; the rest sit around the corner on Indian Peak Road.
Five bank branches are here, plus Arco, Pet Food Express and an auto shop. Each pad has its own small lot; the north-side pads are entered from Hawthorne near Silver Spur Road.

Deep Valley Dr & Silver Spur Rd shops
No official name here either: the blocks of smaller, older buildings between the Promenade and Silver Spur Town & Country, along Deep Valley Drive, Silver Spur Road and Bart Earle Way. 700–728 Deep Valley Drive is a 1968 storefront building that has turned over several times.
Look for The Original Red Onion, Giorgio's, Reverent Coffee Bar, Elwood Nursery and the Palos Verdes Peninsula post office.
The 454-unit mixed-use project working through Rolling Hills Estates' review is addressed 615–855 Deep Valley Drive, the same stretch as several of these shops. Follow the project.

Silver Spur Town & Country
A grocery-anchored center with Bristol Farms and CVS, on the south side of Silver Spur Road between Silver Spur and Deep Valley Drive, toward Crenshaw Boulevard.
Recent turnover: Kim's BBQ took the former Tantawan Thai space at 871, Alloy Personal Training the former Jenny Craig at 897, Angela's Color Concepts the former Supercuts at 891, and Candy Nail and Lashes is now at 875.

Peninsula Shopping Center's anchors are Target, Pavilions, TJ Maxx, Petco, Old Navy, Ulta Beauty and Five Below, plus Fitness 19 and about 50 smaller shops, restaurants and services. Bristol Farms and CVS anchor Silver Spur Town & Country at the southeast end of the district.
Is the Promenade part of Peninsula Center?
It's in the same district, just southeast of Peninsula Shopping Center across Norris Center Drive, but it's a separate property with its own levels and parking structure. See our Promenade directory.
Where do I park at Peninsula Center?
Peninsula Shopping Center is all surface parking, entered from Hawthorne Blvd, Silver Spur Rd, Indian Peak Rd and Norris Center Dr. Silver Spur Town & Country has one shared lot of about 400 spaces between Silver Spur Rd and Deep Valley Dr. The smaller Deep Valley Dr buildings have small lots, and there is street parking on Deep Valley Dr.
