Living in Middleridge & Johns Canyon
That map was filed three months before Pearl Harbor, and its homes went up after the war, most of them between the late 1940s and the late 1960s. About ten homes on Buggy Whip Drive sit on a map recorded September 18, 1962. Unlike most of the city, most homes on Johns Canyon Road, Morgan Lane and Chestnut Lane also sit on small recorded tract maps.
The Johns Canyon trail passes the community's Hix Ring, one of two riding rings in Rolling Hills, near the north end of Buggy Whip Drive. Hanson's history of Rolling Hills shows the gate of Rancho Elastico, the 1880s ranch house where he planned the community in 1935, standing across Johns Canyon Road.
