Palos Verdes Drive North was first called Granvia Valmonte, and the library district's photo archive files houses built here in the 1920s under Malaga Cove. One local real-estate office calls Via Anita The Grove.

Valmonte, Palos Verdes Estates
Valmonte is the eastern zone of Palos Verdes Estates, along Palos Verdes Drive North and Via Valmonte where the city meets Torrance. Its main tracts were recorded in 1923 and 1924, and the Palos Verdes Project, planned by the Olmsted Brothers, advertised it as inland high ground overlooking the metropolitan area, the mountains and the sea. It has about 1,210 homes.
