These 23 homes on Ocean Crest Court grew out of a 1978 decision: the City Council approved a modified version of the original Seagate development, with 23 single-family homes reached from Ocean Crest Drive. The Seagate Homeowners Association objected to sharing its road, but the map was approved, and the homes were built in 1981.

The SeaGate area is a small cluster of condominiums, apartments and homes on Ocean Crest Drive and Island View Drive, just off Hawthorne Boulevard a block north of Crest Road. Its anchor is SeaGate, a 167-unit, guard-gated condominium village developed by SeaGate Associates, which held its grand opening on September 23, 1973, the year Rancho Palos Verdes incorporated.
